Raissa Recommends - part 2 - update!

Hi Friends and HAPPY NEW YEAR! I've got a great way for you to kick off your New Year the best way possible. Go see these two amazing performers work their magic this week!

First up, Eric Michael Gillett brings BEST OF MY LOVE back the Metropolitan Room on 1/9 and 10 at 7:30 and 1/12, 19, and 26 at 7:30 p.m. We were at his amazing opening night - they had to turn people away! That Eric Michael can sing circles around most people in the business is common knowledge, but to see him in full flight, as he combines his passion, intensity, acting, wit and heart into his music is to experience a "perfect storm" of artistic expression. You owe it to yourself to see this man. More details at:

And talented Sue Matsuki, one of the loveliest people in cabaret, or the world for that matter, is proving that she is, by performing her newest show, GIFTS FROM THE MOUNTAIN, as a benefit for Cabaret Cares, at the Laurie Beechman Theater this Monday, January 12th at 9:30. Further details on: http://www.suematsuki.com/. I hope you'll go support these two pillars of our cabaret community this week.

And speaking of pillars of our community, there was none more beautiful than Julie Reyburn in her Feinsteins' debut on Tuesday night, January 5th! She was one big sparkle onstage - from the gorgeous dress, to the twinkle in her eye, which was only topped by the shimmer in her voice. She's never been better. Ritt Henn on bass was a class act, and her director, Peter Napolitano created an amazing journey of standards, hidden gems, and one of my new favorites, "Come Home" from a show he has written, Pinnochio of Chelsea, with Mark Janas. And what can I say about Mark, amazing musical director and composer? He started Julie off with an overture that became a brilliant arrangement of "Do I Hear A Waltz" woven with "The Carousel Waltz". It may be the best arrangement I've ever heard - Mark is a master of arranging. I will let you know when you can hear these amazing people again - congratulations, my friends.

Happy New Year to all!
Love and light,

Raissa
